Victimized by our own defenses: Recovering our Agency at the site of our vulnerability

In this session, I'll walk us through the need-projects of each of the centers of intelligence -- security, belovedness, worth -- and how these are connected to the defense mechanisms. By locating our defenses in the appropriate need-project, we are able to dig down below the behavior to understand why our defenses make sense but don't often help us get what we want. When we take our vulnerabilities inherent in the need-project seriously, we can begin to see how these defenses participate in a self defeating project, while still acknowledging the importance of finding or recovering our security, belovedness and worth.
